The purpose of this page is to help you understand the different kind of video ports and their usefulness.
There are 3 main kinds (Seen in the pic below). VGA, the original old style analog. DVI, replaced VGA and is a digital interface instead of analog. HDMI, used for TV’s and many HD devices. This works as well as if not better then DVI. HDMI also has the ability to include sound in it. All modern TV’s have an HDMI interface. If your computer does not have an HDMI Jack (Illistrated further down) you can buy an DVI to HDMI interface for a few dollars. Please not that you will have to deal with sound/audio separately as DVI does not support sound.
